Packing for a Cruise

So you are all ready for the cruise. You bought your ticket and spent hours planning every moment that you will be on board the ship and at the various ports. You have your excursions planned out and every website is bookmarked and all brochures are laid out on the table. You are so ready to go that you can't wait for the day that you leave work and know that you won't be back for a week because you will be enjoying the ultimate vacation. So you are totally ready, except for the packing.

Packing for a cruise is probably the only real stress that you will have associated with your vacation. While you are on the cruise ship, on their time so to speak, they take care of everything. They have all your food and any form of recreation at your beck and call so there really isn't anything to worry about there you just need to fit all of your clothes into a couple of suitcases and you aren't sure how you are going to do it. Here are some suggestions to help your packing go much easier.

The first thing you should do when you are packing for a cruise is to set aside the times that you will be on a ship into like blocks. If you will be spending the day at the pool you could block that in with a beach excursion. The times you will need to dress for dinner should be blocked together and special excursions would be broken out as separate unless you can fit them into another block of time. That way you will not feel the need to pack for each and every thing that you will be doing. For dinners you will be expected to dress a little nicer so bring a variety of shirts, just make sure that you can do it all with a single pair of shoes. I also like to rent a tux so that it is on board when I get there and stays when I leave, that will save a lot of packing.

The whole idea of a cruise is to make sure that you relax and have a good time, this should start with the packing. The simpler that you keep your packing and the choice of clothing that you take the easier it will be to make the decisions of clothing once you are on board. If you have ever over packed for a cruise you will know what I'm talking about. So block the times you will be on the ship and make sure that you only pack what you will need and your trip will be much more enjoyable.
