Danube Pearl

Hungary attracting more than 40 millions tourists a year is a very beautiful country with a picturesque nature and very useful thermal springs. Its capital Budapest due to its romantic atmosphere and beautiful architecture is called “Little Paris”.
Budapest is the only capital with “city resort” status. Its hotels have a perfect ratio – price/quality. 3-star hotel in Budapest is not the same as in Egypt or Turkey. It offers spacious comfortable rooms and delicious food.
Budapest consists of 3 parts – Buda, Pest and Obuda. It’s the only city laying on both Danube banks. In 1873 Buda and Obuda on the West bank united with Pest on the East bank. More than a century has passed, but these two parts of the city still extremely differ from each other.
Buda is small and old district with paved streets and cozy colored houses. Here the medieval structures neighbor with the brilliant samples of the neoclassic style. The district’s most visited place is Fortress Hill – long, narrow and flat height surrounded by baroque, gothic and renaissance buildings. The hill is crowned with magnificent Royal Palace. Here the significant part of Budapest attractions is located.
Pest lies on a plain and is an important commercial center of the city. Andrashi avenue is called “Champs Elysees” of Budapest. Here you can admire the unique variety of the styles and the huge size of the Heroes’ square. Neo gothic building of Parliament on Danube bank is the most famous structure in Budapest.
During World War II and the revolution of 1956 more than 30 000 houses were destroyed, but some ancient edifices survived till now. The central part of the city with its collection of palaces, churches and monuments was proclaimed World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
Budapest boasts numerous interesting museums - Historical Museum of Budapest, Hungarian National Museum, National Gallery and the Museum of the Fine Arts.
Historical Museum of Budapest is devoted to the history of both the Royal Palace and Budapest. Museum's permanent exhibitions give an insight into the medieval cities of Buda and Pest, along with displays of Gothic sculptures and remains from archaeological excavations.
Hungarian National Museum’s exhibitions include the Hungarian Coronation Insignia, the History of Hungary from St. Stephen to the Millennium and the History of Hungary in the 20th century.
Palaces and museums are excellent, but these are the thermal springs, which distinguish Budapest from any other capital. There more than 80 thermal springs are located. About 20 baths, swimming pools and bathing huts with thermal water work there.
Danube cruises are also very popular among tourists.
